Most of our animals have started off in a small cage and been given increasingly larger cages as time went on. It's worth getting the largest cage that you can afford/fit into your house when you start off as it will be more expensive to upgrade later. The started kits sold in Pet Shops are rarely large enough to keep your pet happy unless you have him out a lot. This is particularly true of the standard size Chinchilla Cages. Chinchillas need to jump round and bounce off things at great speed and will develop psycological problems if kept shut in a small cage. Check out the Shopping Site Links page for places to get cages and materials to make your own.
